Spring 2000 Update

The ice may (almost) be melted, but the Curling Club is still very active:

Tear Down — Now:

Work crews are at the Curling Club most evenings "tearing down" the club and getting the building ready for the Thrift Sale and to turn over to the county. There is a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time. Please call Chris McMahon at 836-9743 (W) or 831-7574 (H) to find out when work crews will be at the Club.

Thrift Sale — April 8^th:

The Thrift Sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 8th, from 7:30am to 2:00pm

Table and rack set-up: Wednesday, April 5^th, 6:30pm to ?

Merchandise set-up: Friday, April 7^th, 6:30pm to ?

Please pre-price all non-clothing articles; clothing will be sold at pre-set prices.

Bring brown paper bags for the 1pm bag sale.

Do not bring broken items. And remember, if large items don’t sell, you are responsible for removal.

Spring General Membership Meeting — April 11^th:

The Spring Meeting will be held at the Curling Club on Tuesday, April 11^th at 7:00pm. All members should plan to attend this important meeting to discuss the following items:

Election of three new Board Members. The Board needs new blood, and/or some old blood. If you have not been on the Board since we moved to the new building, please consider taking your turn again. Please call Paul Hanke (836-9888) if you are interested in becoming a Board Member.

Results of our 1999-2000 Fund-raisers. There will be reports on the Reverse Raffle, our Bonspiels, the Second Chance Tournament, Advertising Signs, the Thrift Sale, and other money-makers.

Presentation of the Rookie of the Year Award and Ambassador of the Year Award.

Summerspiel — June 16^th-18^th:

No one has yet volunteered to run the Summerspiel. There have been a few offers to help with some of the initial preparations, but we desperately need a person or group of people to take charge of this project. This is a big job, but the Summerspiel is an excellent fund-raiser. If someone does not take charge of this event quickly, there may not be time to make all of the necessary preparations. And, as we have experienced in the past, it is very hard to "get a bonspiel" going again after a spiel is cancelled.
